April 9, 2009

John Micklethwait, Editor-in-Chief of The Economist, will appear in Dallas as part of the World Affairs Council Speaker Programs. The event is Tuesday, April 28, 2009, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

After the recent G-20 summit, much anticipation exists as to how nations around the globe will collaborate to alleviate the effects of the recession. John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief of The Economist, will join the Council to offer predictions for the future of the international economy. In an on-stage conversation based on the first one hundred days of the Obama administration, he will discuss with Keven Ann Willey, vice president and editorial page editor of The Dallas Morning News, what America can hope for from its 44th President and what the world can expect for the short- and long-term growth of the global economy.

In addition to his role at The Economist, John Micklethwait has co-authored many books including The Witch Doctors, A Future Perfect: the Challenge and Hidden Promise of Globalisation, The Company: A Short History of a Revolutionary Idea and The Right Nation: A Study of Conservatism in America. His latest book, God is Back: How the Global Revival of Faith Is Changing the World, discusses religion and its affect on modern economics, culture and politics. He specializes in the fields of business and politics in most regions around the world, including the United States, Latin America, continental Europe, southern Africa and most of Asia.
