Gilbreath Steps Down from Endowed Chair Position

Aug. 31, 2007

Dr. Kent Gilbreath, Professor of Economics and holder of the E.M. and Thelma Stevens Chair of Private Enterprise and Entrepreneurship recently announced that he is stepping down from his role as holder of the Stevens Chair.

"I have greatly enjoyed my work teaching Baylor's students about the American economy, the free enterprise system and the important role of entrepreneurs in building our amazingly prosperous society. However, during my remaining years at Baylor, I would like to have my summers free to travel and pursue more directly my own entrepreneurial efforts," said Gilbreath.

Gilbreath will continue to serve as professor of Economics but expressed to Dean Maness his desire to have his summers free to pursue personal interests. Gilbreath was appointed to the Stevens Chair in 1991, serving 16 years in that position.
