Baylor Business undergraduate students now have the opportunity to receive a Certificate in Business Analytics in addition to their BBA degree from the Hankamer School of Business.
The Certificate Program in Business Analytics was added in order to teach students the techniques necessary to understand and interpret big data and business analytics.
“What we’ve seen is a lot of companies are looking for people with really good analytic skills where they can process information and make better decisions in business,” said Jeremy McElroy, advisor of the certificate program.
This certificate provides an advantage in the workplace because it can objectively show employers that students have learned specific analytic skills.
“Students will learn how to handle big data and what that scaling means, how to manage large sets of data, how to do the analysis and the best way to present that analysis,” said McElroy.
After completion of this program, McElroy said that students will also be familiar with in-depth models, different software packages, and will be able to put together presentations to showcase information in a way that aids managers in making well-informed business decisions.
Students can apply for this program after they have been admitted to the Business School and have completed QBA 3305 with a minimum grade of “B”. Required classes include three 4000-level MIS courses and two supplemental courses with a focus on analytics.
