Business School Merit and Need Based Scholarship Applications OpenJan. 25, 2018
Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business applications for scholarships are now open. The scholarships apply to students who have been admitted to the Hankamer School of Business and have either earned admission after a minimum of 60 hours or were admitted as Baylor Business Fellows. The application must be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 1, 2018.
There are two types of scholarships, merit-based and need-based.
- Merit-based scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of college academic success or other leadership criteria.
- Need-based scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need. Eligibility is based solely on the assets and income of the student and his or her family.
Blaine McCormick is the chair of the Management Department and coordinator of the HSB scholarship process. According to him, merit-based applications are far outpacing those of the need-based applications.
“I hope we receive more applications for the need-based scholarships,” said McCormick.
All applicants must first complete a student FAFSA form to certify financial need to be eligible for the scholarships awarded. Then the correct application must be submitted by the deadline.
Scholarship Committee recommendations are forwarded to the Student Financial Aid Office for final assignment. Award notifications are sent by the end of the Spring semester for use the following academic year.
