Baylor alum Jana Pickett found a way to make her passion for fitness into a career with OrangeTheory Fitness.
Pickett graduated from UT-Austin with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2009, and received her MBA in the Executive MBA Program from Baylor University in 2016. She currently owns two locations of Orange Theory Fitness in Austin.
“I have always loved fitness and working out and when I was balancing school and work it was key in keeping me focused and healthy. So providing a healthy environment for busy people that have real benefits to their lives is something I am passionate about,” said Pickett.
OrangeTheory Fitness is a fitness studio founded in 2007 and is franchised in all fifty states and more than 17 countries. It employs group fitness training in a one-hour full body workout, in which half the class is cardio and half strength and weight-training.
“What really sets us apart is the heart rate based interval training. The workout is backed by the science of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption, and by maintaining a target heart rate zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy,” said Pickett.
Each class is taught by a nationally certified coach who is knowledgeable, motivating, and committed to helping each member meet their fitness goals. Each studio has its own unique personality, energy, and supportive atmosphere designed to keep you coming back.
“Since we've opened, I've found that it is even more rewarding than I initially expected; there is something so special about watching our members develop and see the results that they have worked so hard to achieve,” said Pickett.
