Business School Faculty Recognized

Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business bestows faculty awards on an annual basis. The winners were announced at the Senior Appreciation Banquet April 20.

“It is a privilege to be able to award our hardworking colleagues for the wide variety of ways that they serve,” said Cindy Riemenschneider, associate dean of Research and Faculty Development. “We are thankful for the endowment contributors who enable us to share a stipend with the award recipients so they can further their excellence in research and the classroom.”

Each recipient receives a plaque, a stipend and recognition at the Senior Honors Banquet in April. Recipients may use the stipend for research or teaching purposes. Examples of how the faculty member may use the award money include: travel for a conference; research data collection; purchase of software, books, or educational materials to support their teaching or research.

Awards included the following:

Mitch Neubert (Management) – Distinguished Professor Award
This recognition is awarded to a faculty member who displays excellence in teaching, research, and service to the department, college, university and profession.

John Knue (ISY) – Teaching Excellence Award
This recognition is awarded to a faculty member for outstanding performance in the classroom.

Liz Umble (Management) – Teaching Excellence Award
This recognition is awarded to a faculty member for outstanding performance in the classroom.

Meredith David (Marketing) – Young Researcher Award
This recognition is awarded to a non-tenured faculty member for outstanding research early in his/her career.

Peter Klein (Entrepreneurship) – Brent Clum Outstanding Research Award
This is recognition is given to a tenured faculty member who displays excellence through published research.

Emily Hunter (Management) – Robert & Robin Nitsche Outstanding Research Award
This recognition is given to a tenured faculty member who displays excellence through published research.

In addition to the annual awards:

Tenure was awarded to Laurie Burney of the Accounting and Business Law Department.

Matt Wood of the Entrepreneurship Department was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor.

Chris Pullig, chair of the Marketing Department, was announced as a winner of the University Scholarship Award.
