After receiving her undergraduate degree in social work from Baylor, Victoria King is continuing her education as a joint MBA/MSW student. Though she originally wanted to be a doctor, Victoria’s idea of service expanded when she recognized the increasing importance of environmental sustainability and cultural responsibility in the business world.
The Focus Firm class has been Victoria’s most impactful experience so far. “I’ve been able to research social return on investments, social enterprises, and institutions that focus on double and triple bottom lines that impact multiple entities,” she explains. Her concentration is on community practice, which examines how to utilize a community’s resources to mobilize it toward growth and positive development. “From that perspective, I realized businesses are a key part of the community, and I had to understand how they operate.”
Upon graduation in May, Victoria hopes to fill a role in the corporate responsibility division of a corporation.
