Japan-Texas Business Forum

GBFNov2017 Reduced

With more than 400 Japanese companies operating in Texas, the economic relationship between the Lone Star State and the Land of the Rising Sun is exceptionally strong. Between 2006 and 2016, Texas exports to Japan more than doubled from $2.8 billion to $6.2 billion, placing Texas in third place among U.S. suppliers to Japan. Likewise, between 2011 and 2016, Japanese companies invested $3.1 billion in Texas, generating more than 12,000 jobs – contributing more to Texas employment than investments from any other country.

What factors have driven the strong relationship between Texas and Japan? What opportunities stand before us for continued improvement? What actions can be taken by the public and private sectors in Texas and Japan to realize the full potential of our cooperation? These and other questions were explored by business and public policy professionals at the Japan-Texas Business Forum.
