President

Major: Baylor Businness Fellows; Biology & Economics, Pre-Med track 

Minor: Biochemistry 

Hometown: Waxahachie, TX

Duties: Direct general and officer meetings, coordinate officer activities, act as liasion to all external entities concerning BURST 

Fun Fact:  My interests are microbiology, public health, and health policy. In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors and playing golf!

Jana Heady

Vice President of Events

Year: Junior 

Major: University Scholar with concentrations in Biology and Spanish 

Hometown: Wichita, KS

Duties: Contact potential general meeting speakers, lead the Events Committee, plan events for each semester (socials, academic lectures, general meetings, lab technique workshops), book rooms for events 

Fun Fact: I have research experience from Dr. Harvill's 1406 Biology in the Wetlands class from the spring of my freshman year. This summer, I will be assisting with research in the field of genetic counseling in my hometown.

Zachary Pranske

Vice President of Journal Clubs

Major: Neuroscience, Pre-Grad track 

Minor: Biochemistry

Hometown: Coppell, Texas

Duties: Organizing journal clubs and lab tours, hosting discussions with guest speakers

Fun Fact: My research in the Lugo Lab focuses on the interplay between early-life inflammation and autism, and the role of the serotonin system in epilepsy. Fun fact, I’m interning in Germany for summer 2019 (ask me about the DAAD program!) Outside of school I like to read, camp, and play ultimate frisbee.

Vice President of Scientia

Major: Biology, Pre-Med track 

Hometown: Katy, TX

Duties: Manage publication of Baylor's undergraduate scientific journal Scientia with the goal to showcase the amazing research that undergraduates do here at Baylor University, coordinate entire editing and designing process with the BURST editorial team

Fun Fact: You can catch me running participants through deception studies in Dr. Tsang's Positive Psychology Lab or taking care of live mosquito colonies down in Dr. Sim's Medical Entomology Lab!

Duties: Organizing/planning of the major research events at Baylor

Fun Fact: I am a computational chemist in the Gallagher lab!

Duties: To create innovative tools and resources for undergraduates interested in research, coordinate with service opportunities, run a research mentorship program 

Fun Fact: A person from the high school I attended in Arizona, a person from the the high school I attended in Oregon, and I all had the same class together at one point!

Fun Fact: I work in Dr. Solouki's analytical chemistry lab and this summer I'll be assisting in a cellular biology & anatomy lab!
