Membership

Welcome prospective and current members, we're so happy that you're a part of the BURST family!

Follow these three steps to become a member:
  • Join us on connect: https://baylor.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/burst
    - Look up BURST
    - You'll see a blue "JOIN" button, click that
    - This allows us to send you information (events, socials, etc.) through email!
  • Pay your dues!
    - $30 for new members, $15 for returning members for the entire year
    - Pay through paypal (@baylorburst or baylorburst@gmail.com) or in cash at any of our meetings
    - If none of these methods work, or you need financial assistance, email baylorburst@gmail.com
  • Fill out the new member form!

Participation in a variety of BURST events is required. You must earn 14 points per semester in the categories below in order to be an active member:

  • 7 general events (general meetings, social events, academic events)
  • 3 journal clubs (discussions about a scientific article)
  • 3 service hours (community service, can be with BURST or outside service)
  • 1 special point (RID or HoT - research symposiums hosted by BURST)

Get points for your research involvement:
If you are involved with a research lab on campus, we offer 4 points in categories of your choice and will decrease your total point requirement to 10! Please let us know by filling out this form: https://forms.gle/ALkUptkK4Q5k7bdR6

Apply for a Leadership Position

Leadership applications will be updated on this page once they become available!

Here are the leadership positions you can apply for:
  • Executive Member – lead a committee and directly plan events and programs for all BURST members (check out the "Executive Board" page for more info)
  • Committee Member – become part of a team of students to host specific BURST events, all members are encouraged to serve on a committee!
    • BURST committees include: Scientia Editorial Team, Journal Club Leaders, Academic Events, Social Events, Special Events, Resources, Publicity, Fundraising
