Center for Microscopy and Imaging

The Center for Microscopy and Imaging (CMI) at Baylor University is a central laboratory located in the Baylor Sciences Building (BSB, C155). Its main goals are to provide students and researchers with scientific support in different fields of microscopy through state of the art techniques, current academic knowledge, an awareness of current scientific opinion and scientific excellence.

The center is equipped for imaging dynamic ultrastructural changes in biological samples and for the basic characterization of materials. It hosts various different microscopes and techniques for life and material sciences, such as atomic force microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy, e-beam lithography, fluorescence microscopy, focused ion beam, light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The CMI also provides the necessary equipment for sample preparation for life and material sciences.

We are dedicated to teaching researchers and students to prepare specimens and use our microscopes to independently explore the smaller details of our world.
