Mr. David M. Slover is senior vice president at HighGround Advisors, an investment, asset management, and gift planning company serving the nonprofit sector and charitably minded families. As chief strategy officer, Mr. Slover provides leadership for strategic direction, including both internal core competencies and processes and external client and market-sensitive initiatives. In existence for 90 years, HighGround manages more than $2 billion for nonprofit organizations and charitable families.
Previously, Mr. Slover served as president of Buckner Foundation for 11 years and as executive vice president of Buckner International. In his role at Buckner, he oversaw strategic planning, program expansion and design, operations, development, communications and marketing, and donor and ministry engagement, including humanitarian aid and missions.
Mr. Slover has more than 30 years of experience working with complex and prominent nonprofit organizations, including Children’s Medical Center Dallas (now Children’s Health), Southern Methodist University, and Baylor Healthcare System (now Baylor Scott & White Health). His primary role at Children’s was leading all major philanthropic initiatives.
Mr. Slover graduated with academic honors from Baylor with a BA in history in 1986 and an MBA in 1989. The Slovers have contributed to the College of Arts & Sciences, the Baylor Bear Foundation, and several excellence funds, and they are members of the Old Main Society. Mr. Slover is a member of the board of Edify, whose mission is to improve and expand sustainable, Christ-centered education globally. He currently serves on its governance and nominating committee.
Mr. Slover is married to Carol Glass Slover (BA ’89). They have two adult, married children: Seth Slover and Sarah Slover Brown (BS ’18).
