Mr. Philip W. Stewart graduated from Baylor with a Bachelor of Arts in 1973 and a Juris Doctor in 1976. He also earned a LLM (Master of Law) from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1977.
He is the president of Terravista Corporation, a real estate investment firm engaged in the acquisition, development, and management of commercial, multi-family, and residential properties in Texas and California as well as the State of Jalisco, Mexico. In 1993, Mr. Stewart formed Terravista Partners, a closely held family partnership, after he retired from the active practice of law.
Prior to Terravista, he was a partner at Vinson & Elkins, LLP and Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, focusing on the development of a corporate and regulatory practice for banks and other federally insured financial institutions.
He is a member of Baylor Parents Network, Bear Foundation, and Old Main Society. He previously served on the Development Council. The Stewarts have provided many gifts to Baylor, including support for the Stacy Riddle Forum and the Dr. Robert and Joyce Packard Endowed Scholarship.
Mr. Stewart is a member of First Baptist Church of Kenedy, Texas, and has two children: Meredith and Philip, both graduates of Baylor.
