Milton Hixson

Mr. Milton Hixson is chief executive officer of FMP Wealth Advisers (FMP), a registered investment advisory corporation in Austin. He earned a BBA from Baylor University in 1972 and is a certified public accountant and certified financial planner. 

Mr. Hixson founded FMP in 1987 as a pioneer in the fee-only approach to providing wealth management. FMP provides wealth management services for high net worth individuals and investment management for qualified plan clients, with office locations in Austin, Texas, and Lake Charles, Louisiana. FMP manages more than $600 million in client assets. His previous career experience includes Arthur Andersen & Co., Magnolia Life Insurance Co., Hixson Turner & Co., and chair of the Brookshire Bros. Ltd. Board of Directors. 

In 1992, Mr. Hixson was appointed by Tom Phillips, chief justice of the Texas Supreme Court, to the six-member Board of Trustees of the Texas Employee Retirement System (ERS). One of the most important boards in state government, the ERS manages the $20-billion state employee retirement fund as well as designs and manages all state employee medical, disability, and health insurance. Mr. Hixson served three terms as chairman of the ERS Board of Trustees, from September 1995 to August 1996 and from September 2002 to August 2004.

He is a donor to athletic and academic scholarships at Baylor, including a scholarship for George W. Truett Theological Seminary. Mr. Hixson is a member of Austin Baptist Church. He and his wife, Debbie, have three children: Marc (BBA ’97); Jana (BBA ’00, JD ’04); and Justin (BBA ’10).
