Mr. Clifton Robinson, BBA ’63, is chair of Southern Financial Group, which specializes in the purchase of distressed assets across the United States.
He also serves as chair and CEO of Specialty Property, Ltd. Mr. Robinson is a partner with Washington Partners, Ltd.; Central Tower Partners, Ltd.; and C.C. Robinson Property Company Ltd., all of which purchase and manage real estate in many states.
A Baylor Legacy Award recipient (among many Baylor awards), he has provided major support to the University. In 2003, Clifton Robinson created Friends of Baylor, which donated $1 million to Baylor. The Robinsons provide scholarships to underprivileged students through the Honors Program at Baylor and through the MAC Grant program at McLennan Community College. His gifts include Robinson Tower next to Interstate 35. Perhaps his most significant legacy for Baylor and for Waco is the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC) for which the Robinson family, along with H. Bland Cromwell, provided part of the two-million-square-foot former General Tire facility to Baylor as a home for the BRIC.
His wife is Betsy A. Sharp Robinson (BA ’71). They currently attend First Baptist Church of Woodway in Waco. They have two sons, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
