June 2, 1848 -- The Baylor Board of Trustees accepts the resignation of the University's first professor, Henry Gillette. The Episcopalian educator taught Baylor's first classes in May 1846.

June 8, 1952 -- Four historic columns at Baylor's former campus in Independence, recently restored by the Baylor Historical Society, are dedicated at the annual Baylor Homecoming Association meeting.

June 14, 1920 -- As part of Baylor's Diamond Jubilee celebration, the bronze clasped hands of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning are presented to the University. Edwin Markham, considered the dean of American poetry, makes the presentation speech in Carroll Chapel.
