The Baylor Interdisciplinary Core explores the interrelation of humanities and social sciences, providing students with a broad context to understand the contemporary world. Exploring literature and thought from around the world, BIC students receive a global education that prepares them to thrive in any field.

Celebrating 25 Years of BIC

In the early 1990s, administrators and professors of Baylor University formed a committee to develop an interdisciplinary core curriculum. The committee developed specific strategies to accomplish this goal and in 1995, the BIC accepted its first cohort where 200 students began their journey through the new program. Since then, with some adjustments, BIC has experienced 25 years of successfully welcoming new students and sending out world leaders. It is exciting to see the myriad of accomplishments associated with the BIC education and to look forward to those that lie ahead. Thank you for becoming part of the unfolding history of the BIC.

2021 Senior Banquet Speech– Dr. Eric Rust
Check out Dr. Eric Rust's remarks to Graduating BIC Seniors, April 8, 2021. This year marks Dr. Rust's last year teaching before he retires. This speech is not only full of insight for the graduating seniors, but for us all as well. We are incredibly grateful for his 25 years of teaching in BIC and 38 years teaching at Baylor!

Honors College Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Ebony L. Lang
As Giving Day approaches we want to thank our many alumni who continue to support the Honors College through both their time and generous giving. One such dedicated alumnus is Dr. Lang (B.A. Social Work 2004, BIC)! After receiving her BA and MA from Baylor in Social Work, Dr. Lang went on to pursue her Ph.D. in Social Work as well as her Masters of Divinity. Dr. Lang currently serves as the director of Tarleton State University’s BSW program. In her Alumni Spotlight, Dr. Lang reflects on the impact of many of her Baylor professors on her college experience and on her teaching practices now. Sic‘em, Dr. Lang!
