Baylor has been celebrating the 400 year history of Baptists throughout 2009. Conferences, music, student activities and speakers have focused on the heritage of the Baptist faith.
On January 17-18, at 7 pm each night in Waco Hall, Dr. Martin Marty and a diverse panel of experts will share their views at 7 pm on January 17-18 at Waco Hall on what the next 400 years might hold for the Baptist denomination.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Author of more than 50 books and 5,000 articles, Dr. Marty's study of religion and culture are widely acclaimed. Joining Dr. Marty for this discussion will be Dr. Nora Lozano, Associate Professor of Theological Studies at Baptist University of the Americas and co-founder and co-director of the Latina Leadership Institute; Dr. Nigel Wright, President of Spurgeon's College London and former president of the Baptist Union of Great Britain; Dr. David Goatley, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention and Lott Carey International, a global relief and development agency; and Dr. Edwin Gaustad, professor emeritus, University of California, Riverside and author of numerous books recounting the history of religion in America.
