Preparing to Teach

Designing a course requires instructors to think through three basic questions:

  1. What are the course goals and objectives? (Learning Goals and Objectives)
  2. How do I help my students achieve these objectives? (Learning Activities)
  3. How will I know if my students have achieved these objectives? (Learning Assessment)

After formulating answers to these questions, you will be able to prepare further for teaching by constructing a syllabus and thinking through how you will structure the first day of class.
