Course Makeover Workshop

August 3-5, 2020 (Mon-Wed)
Meeting Online using Canvas & Zoom

Overview

Due to current conditions related to COVID-19, the ATL is offering an encore of the 2020 Course Makeover Workshop in lieu of our traditional Adjunct Teaching Workshop.

Whether scheduled to teach in-person, wholly online, or somewhere in between, instructors are striving to design courses for maximum flexibility and deliver them with Baylor's traditional excellence in teaching. The 2020 Course Makeover Workshop was conducted online with Canvas and Zoom in May and emphasized design principles and implementation strategies that ready courses for the spectrum of modalities from in-person to fully online.

The workshop will help participants envision learning activities that meet learning objectives and can be adjusted under changing circumstances. In the process, we will investigate the underlying assumptions in our learning activities and arrive at clearer purpose and precision.

While not a technical training session in online tools (check out training opportunities from the Learning Design and Learning Systems groups at the library), this workshop will prepare faculty to “translate” learning activities to multiple learning environments. For example, what are the objectives of traditional classroom discussions? And how can online tools like chat, discussion forums, or video conferencing help us meet those objectives?

Meeting synchronously online in Zoom: Monday and Tuesday, 10:00am to 3:00pm with a one-hour lunch break; Wednesday, 10:00am to 1:00pm.
