Scholarship: Karl & Shirley Umlauf Schp

Information: The Karl and Shirley Umlauf Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by Baylor University in consideration of artwork by Karl Umlauf.

Karl Umlauf received a B.F.A. degree from the University of Texas in 1961 and an M.F.A. degree from Cornell University in 1963. After teaching art at the University of Pennsylvania, University of Northern Iowa and East Texas State University, he became the artist-in-residence at Indiana University. In 1989, he became the artist-in-residence at Baylor University. In addition to having numerous works of art displayed at Baylor University, Mr. Umlauf has collections in many museums and universities across the United States. He has received many awards for teaching and for his artwork in exhibitions, including Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who among American Teachers.

Comments: For Studio Art majors, awarded to two students as follows: 1) Bachelor of Fine Arts Painting major; 2) Bachelor of Fine Arts Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, or Printmaking major.

Criteria:  For Undergraduate Studio Art majors with a concentration in Ceramics, Painting, Sculpture, or Printmaking in the Art and Art History department.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.
