Scholarship: Dr Robert Debes Family Schp

Information: The Dr. Robert R. Debes, Dolly, Ann, and Bobby Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2015 by Dr. Robert R. Debes of Houston, Texas.

Dr. Robert R. Debes earned his B.S. and M.A. degrees from Baylor University in 1947 and 1949, respectively. He earned his D.D.S. degree from Baylor University College of Dentistry, Dallas in 1953. Dr. Debes served as a captain in the United States Air Force from 1954-1956. His oral and maxillofacial training was performed at Charity Hospital of Louisiana at New Orleans, the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston and the Texas Medical Center. He had a long and successful career in Houston. Dr. Debes joined the oral surgery faculty of U.T. Houston in 1956 and has remained a clinical professor.

Dr. Debes was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, the son of Lebanese immigrants, Michael and Vahiba Debes. Dr. Debes married Dolly Manikas in 1959 and had two children, both of whom Baylor: Ann Debes Watkins (B.B.A. '81) and Robert Randolph, Jr. (B.A. '86). Dolly died in 2001.

Criteria:  For Undergraduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.
