Scholarship: Hazel Poston Panter Schp

Information: The Hazel Poston Panter Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by Joe W. and Rebecca Davis Panter of Paradise Valley, Arizona in honor of Joe’s mother, Hazel Poston Panter.
Hazel Panter did not attend Baylor but all four of her children, nine of her grandchildren, and one great grandchild did. She became a member of First Baptist Alba in 1943 and said joining the Baptist church was one of the most important decisions of her life. Hazel refused to step down from her position as a Sunday school teacher when a new pastor tried to keep women out of church leadership roles. She continued to teach and as of 2011, she continues to teach the class today after 68 years.
Joe Panter earned a B.B.A. degree from Baylor University in 1978. He currently serves as the chairman for Caddis Partners, L.L.C. Rebecca Panter earned a B.A. degree from Baylor University in 1979. The Panters are life members of the Baylor Alumni Association where Mr. Panter has served on the board of directors. They have three children: Sally M. Panter, Catherine P. Panter, and Samuel D. Panter.
