Scholarship: Abercrombie Family Schp

Information: The Abercrombie Family Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by Rita and Jack Abercrombie of Waco, Texas in support of President Starr’s Scholarship Endowment Initiative. Rita and Jack’s son, Eric (B.A. ’96 and M.I.J. ’98), served as the director of development for the College of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, Eric’s wife, Ali Abercrombie (B.A. ’95, M.A. ’00), served as assistant vice president and campaign director for the initiative. Rita Abercrombie was born and raised in Heidelberg, Germany; she moved to the United States and became a naturalized citizen in 1965. She earned a B.A. in German and French and an M.A.T. in German from Southwest State University. Jack Abercrombie is a retired Air Force Colonel who served in various capacities during World War II, the Korean War and the Viet Nam conflict. Rita and Jack established this scholarship to assist students with their study abroad expenses in the hopes more students will have the opportunity to experience different cultures.

Comments: For Undergraduate German majors and minors. Participating in Baylor study abroad program.

Criteria:  For Undergraduate German majors.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need.
