Scholarship:	Kathleen & Eddie Yancey Schp
Information:	The Kathleen and Eddie Yancey Endowed Scholarship Fund in Social Work was established in 2009 by Gaynor I. Yancey of McGregor, Texas in honor of her parents, Kathleen and Eddie Yancey and their lives of authentic Christian faith and service. Kathleen Yancey was born in Nuneaton County of Warwick, England. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1954 and moved to Pasadena, Texas with her husband, Eddie, and their two children. She worked as a financial records secretary for the First Baptist Church of Pasadena until her retirement at age 80. Eddie Yancey was born in Samson, Alabama and grew up in Patmos, Arkansas. During World War II, he was a military police officer stationed in Luton, England where he and Kathleen met. He later worked as a milk distributor. Kathleen and Eddie, one from England and one from rural Arkansas, were always grateful for the gift of spiritual life that came to each of them and the entire family through the mission and ministry of a local church in the U.S. Dr. Gaynor Yancey received a B. A. degree from East Texas Baptist College in 1967, a M.R.E. degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1970, a M.S.W. degree from Temple University in 1987, and a D.S.W. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998.
Comments:	Awarded to students planning for a career in missions or full-time ministry in the United States.
Criteria:	For Undergraduate or graduate students in the School of Social Work.
Minimum GPA:	The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.
Need/Merit:	Based on need and merit.
