Scholarship: Bill & Ann Stokes Theatre Schp

Information: The Ann Bradshaw Stokes Scholarship was established in 1982 through the will of Ann Bradshaw Stokes. Mrs. Stokes graduated with a degree in journalism from Texas Women's University of Denton, Texas. As a writer, her articles appeared in American Home, Ladies Home Journal, Better Homes and Gardens, Sales Management, and other magazines; however, her primary interest was in drama. She was a graduate of Pasadena Playhouse in California, a producer, and an actress in dramatic productions in California and Texas. She was the author of numerous plays and short stories, including "Call of the Whippoorwill", an elaborate and carefully researched drama of the life of Sam Houston in his Indian sojourn.

Comments: Must award to at least two students at a time. Preference is given to students who are participating in study abroad program in theatre arts.

Criteria:  For students in the Theater Arts department who are a sophomore, junior, or senior.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need and merit.
