Computer Science (BA degree)
What it's all about
The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in computer science provides a traditional liberal arts education with a solid set of core courses in computer science. These courses provide the foundation necessary for a career in computer science. During the sophomore year, a student selects one of several areas of concentration in order to meet specific goals. Students may choose a concentration program from business, science or computer science, or any approved minor in another discipline.
This program is designed in the liberal arts tradition and is a good fit for students who want a computer science degree and who want to take additional courses outside of their major course of study.
You might take classes such as:
- Discrete Structures
- Database Design
- Software Engineering
Graduates of this major go on to:
- become programmers
- work as systems analysts
- become technical writers
