What it's all about

American Studies encompasses a variety of subjects including communications, history, literature, museum studies, political science, religion and many other areas.Because the faculty approach American culture from many angles, the program allows students to view America as a whole rather than from one single perspective.Through all the courses in this major, you'll be able to see the continuity of America's past, present and future in terms of its cultural and historical development.

  •  American Public Policy
  •  History of Jazz
  •  Law and Religion in the United States

Graduates of this major go on to:

  •  attend graduate school, law school or seminary
  •  teach in high schools or universities
  •  work as writers or journalists
  •  conduct research for museums or historical organizations
  •  work for city, state or national governments as policy advisors or analysts
