To all College of Arts & Sciences students who matriculated prior to fall 2019:
You may have heard or read about some important changes to the College of Arts & Sciences core curriculum, and you may be wondering how these changes could affect you. All freshmen and transfer students matriculating this fall will complete their degrees according to the general education requirements stated in the 2019-2020 undergraduate catalogue. All students who matriculated prior to the 2019 catalogue year will continue under the general education requirements of the catalog they matriculated under unless they elect to switch catalogue years.
In most cases, students who have already completed the majority of their general education requirements will benefit from staying on their current catalogue year. However, in some cases, it may be beneficial for students to switch to the 2019-2020 catalogue. You will find information about the requirements of the new core as well as some helpful FAQs here: https://www.baylor.edu/artsandsciences/corecurriculum/startingfall2019.
You also can run a “What If?” audit to help you think about whether or not switching to the 2019-2020 catalogue might be beneficial.
You will soon be hearing from your assigned CASA advisor about scheduling your fall advising appointment. This will be the perfect time for you and your advisor to have this conversation. If you have already completed a graduation plan and no longer have required advising, you can still request an appointment with an advisor by clicking here: https://www.baylor.edu/artsandsciences/casa/index.php?id=53860
Best wishes for a successful fall semester,
Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, Student Success Management, Baylor University College of Arts & Sciences
