Remarks delivered by Carol Hildebrand in presenting Baylor Women's Council of Dallas 2005 Woman of Distinction Award on October 11, 2005:

Today's recipient has been described as an artist, an active church member, a counselor, mother of two daughters, and grandmother of five who lovingly call her MIM! Let us take a glimpse into the life of our recipient ANITA COLLIER JONES. Her two daughters claim the scripture that best describes her is Prov. 31:30-"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

Daughter Leisa said, "My mom's example taught me how to love my neighbor, to love my husband, to love my children, and most importantly to love my Lord Jesus and how to pray."

Anita's home is filled with a positive ongoing "Yes!" Saying Yes" to her husband, Dale Jones, over 40 years ago, she left her home in Texas to move to England, to Oklahoma, and then back to Texas. Saying "Yes" to her spiritual gift of hospitality by hosting dinners, meetings, and receptions ALL in her home. Saying "Yes" to extended family---Making her home a second home for countless students who need a place to live for a time.

And then there's Anita's endless "Yes" in service to Baylor. Serving as President of this organization, as a member of the Development Council, and the Dean Advisory Council and Underwriting co-chair of the Baylor Health Care System Celebrating Women in support of cancer research.

And her faithful "Yes" in service to her church. Daughter Lee Anna said, "Mom's life has always been about reaching others for eternity. Anita is founder of Women's Touch Retreat in several cities, and the Woman's Ministry Coordinator at Park Cities Baptist Church, and teacher of the newlywed's class.

In the community her willing "Yes" lead her to serve on many cultural committees, the Kappa Advisory Council at SMU, and the Tablescape fundraising committee. Anita lives for what she can give to others by sweetly saying, "Yes."

"If your life is unselfish, if for others you live, For not what you get, but how much you can give; If you live close to God in his infinite grace~ You don't have to tell it; it shows in your face."

Finally: Life is not always smooth and what we are made of shows most clearly when we are tested. Recently through difficult times in the death of her dear husband, Dale, and later her sister, Sue, she has shown us by example her Strength and Faith and the meaning of her favorite Bible verse, Is. 26:3-"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee."

Thank you, Anita Jones, for your living example of Peace, Faith, and for serving with your Sweet Yes!

It is with great pleasure that we announce with a Proud YES, our 2005 Woman of Distinction--Anita Collier Jones."
