John M. Barry, ABC ’13, recently stepped away from full-time responsibilities associated with a long career leading university marketing and communications divisions. He retired this summer as vice president for communications and chief marketing officer for the University of Richmond in Virginia. Prior to that, he enjoyed 10 years serving as vice president for marketing  and university communications and CMO while leading an extraordinary team of dedicated and talented communications professionals at Baylor University, where he established lifelong friendships with many outstanding colleagues. He began his professional career at the University of Connecticut where he was director of the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research and, later, UConn’s director of communications and marketing. His family of Baylor Bears, wife Patty, ABC ’13, son Michael, BA ’10, and his wife Katie, BS ’11, and son Kevin, BA ’13, helped John raise a giant Sic ’em and come together to root on the Baylor Bears every chance they get!

The Bielstein Family Endowed Scholarship for Truett Seminary was established by the Bielstein Family in memory of Walter A. and Gloria M. Bielstein and supports students enrolled in Truett Seminary.

The Marcus and Janis Kurschat Endowed Scholarship in School Leadership and the Baylor Center for School Leadership Endowment was established by Janis, ABC ’22, and Marcus Kurschat, ABC ’22, of Scottsdale, AZ, to benefit students pursuing a Master of Arts in School Leadership. Their son, Jack, is a member of the Baylor Class of 2025.

The Marc and Rowena Treitler Family Addiction Education Fund was established by Marc and Rowena Treitler of La Jolla, CA, which supports research and outreach collaboration between Baylor School of Education’s Center for School Leadership and University of Mississippi’s William Magee Center for AOD and Wellness Education.
