David Brooks, BBA ’80, MBA ’81, and Carolyn Brooks, BBA ’81, of McKinney, TX, established the David and Carolyn Brooks Undergraduate Research Assistant Endowment in Business which supports the Hankamer School of Business Undergraduate Business Research Assistant program and the David and Carolyn Brooks Endowed Fund for the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty. This supports the needs of the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty.
Roland Garcia, BBA ’81, served as co-chair for the grand unveiling of the Latino cARTographies on Sept. 29, 2022. Latino cARTographies is the first portable, bilingual and interactive digital platform in the nation that maps Latino artworks and culture. Roland also chaired and emceed the Houston Hispanic Heritage Awards Ceremony Oct. 19, 2022.
Carole Lyons, BM ’83, of Richardson, TX, established the Kevin Lyons Endowed Scholarship in Music in memory of her husband Kevin Lyons, BME ’83, which supports students studying clarinet.
Stacy Edick, BA ’84, authored the second book in the Liz Adams Mystery series, Carmel Conundrum [Wild Hawk Press, 2022]. Stacy is writing under the pen name, Stacy Wilder.
Scott Bashrum, BBA ’85, was appointed head of corporate development, mergers & acquisitions at NWH, Inc., the leading manufacturer and supplier of hardwood lumber to North America, Europe and Asia. Scott and his wife Donna are soon celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary and reside in Frisco, TX.
Scott Worrell, BBA ’85, of Eustis, FL; Doug Worrell, BBA ’86, of Waynesville, NC; and Anne Worrell of Waynesville, NC, established the Charles Franklin Worrell, Jr. Endowed Scholarship in memory of their husband and father Charles Worrell, Jr., BBA ’60, which supports students enrolled in the Hankamer School of Business.
Russell B. Rogers, BBA ’86, and Esther P. Rogers, BBA ’86, of Tontitown, AR, established the Louise Herrington Endowed Chair in Mental Health which supports innovative research and teaching that addresses the world’s most challenging topics in mental and behavioral health research within the Louise Herrington School of Nursing.
Ben Baker Jr., BBA ’88, and Allison A. Ellis Baker, BA ’86, of Dallas established the Alger Ben Baker III Memorial Endowed Scholarship, in loving memory of the Donor’s son, Alger Ben Baker III. This scholarship benefits students enrolled in the Hankamer School of Business.
Don Willett, BBA ’88, and his family dedicated the opening of Don R. Willett Elementary School in Forney, TX. The K–4 campus, home of the mighty Willett Wranglers, is located not far from where the Willett family doublewide trailer once stood. The school cafeteria, Cafe Doris, is named in honor of Don’s late mother, who was widowed young and waited tables for 55 years. Don is currently a U.S. circuit judge, having previously served on the Supreme Court of Texas, and is a member of the Baylor University Board of Regents.
Lisa Gallagher, BBA ’89, of Dallas established the Gallagher Family Endowment in Christian Leadership & Ethics in Business and supports the activities and priority needs of the Christian Leadership and Ethics office within the Hankamer School of Business.
