Dr. Taryn Ozuna Allen, BA ’03, MSEd ’05, of Saginaw, Texas, is a leader in the Baylor Alumni Latino Group, which has regional groups in locations such as Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Del Rio, Texas, and Atlanta. The group was started by Dr. Macarena Del Rocio Hernandez, BA ’96, and Pablo Gonzales, BA ’18. Allen, Diana Calderon Pena, BBA ’96, and a team of regional representatives are now connected to help spread the word. They encourage alumni to attend all Baylor events, and they also coordinate special Latino Group events, including a Homecoming mixer, fall tailgates and a spring reunion on campus during Alumni Weekend with alumni and undergraduate students.
“The reunion serves as a reconnection to the Baylor Family. We had such a special time as Baylor students, and it’s a way to be with others who understand that and support each other after graduation,” Allen said. “The group helps us remain connected to campus and allows us to be role models, mentors and advocates, and to offer encouragement. Baylor is a great place, and we want students to be successful here and beyond. Our vision is to reinforce the pipeline from future Bears to current students to alumni.”
