Rusty Phenix has served as an attorney and managing partner of the Henderson law firm Phenix & Crump since 1984. He is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and as a Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Phenix currently serves as secretary of the East Texas Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and he is a past chairman of the District 2A Grievance Commission of the State Bar of Texas. He also is a past president of the Rusk County Bar Association and served on the Executive Board for the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
AWARDS AND HONORS
Phenix has been selected to the Texas Super Lawyers and was named to the list of Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association. He also is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
A third-generation letterwinner on the Baylor tennis team, Phenix is a member of the Baylor “B” Association, the Baylor Line Foundation and the Baylor Bear Foundation.
CHURCH/CHRISTIAN MISSION AFFILIATIONS
Phenix and his wife Devon Woods Phenix, BSN ’83, are active members of First Baptist Church of Henderson, where he has served as a deacon since 1998 and as a Sunday School teacher for young married couples for more than 28 years. He leads men’s ministries and has filled numerous leadership roles in the church including chairman of the long-range planning committee, chairman of a pastor search committee, chairman of a youth minister search committee and member of numerous other church committees.
