Baylor senior outside hitter Zoe Adom has been selected to the 2013 Big 12 Preseason Volleyball Team. Adom ranked fifth among Big 12 hitters last season in kills-per-set, averaging 3.37 against conference opponents.
Adom was named First-Team All-Big 12 last season after posting 244 kills, hitting a career-high .227 and adding 45 blocks on the year. Adom helped Baylor to a 20-12 overall record and a 7-9 mark in Big 12 play.
"Our team and coaches are happy that Zoe is being recognized on the preseason team. She had a great season last year, and she has improved a great deal since then," said Baylor head coach Jim Barnes. "We anticipate a few more of our players being named All-Big 12 at the end of the season."
Three Baylor track student-athletes produced three medals while competing for the USA team in the 2013 Pan-American Junior Championships Aug. 25 in Medellin, Columbia.
"I am really proud of the performance of all our athletes," head coach Todd Harbour said. "I don't remember a year where our guys did so well at such a large junior event."
Olicia Williams nabbed two medals, one individually and one as a relay team member. The New York native took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:08.85, before earning gold as part of the USA's 4x400-meter relay.
Felix Obi, who holds the school's triple jump record, produced a leap of 51-8 [15.75m] to place third in the event.
Triple jumper Brianna Richardson took fourth with a personal-best leap of 43-5 [13.23m].
