Jim Ward, a cowboy and Western artist from Canyon, Texas, painted this bear as a special gift for Joyce "Rinky" Sanders, who shared it with Baylor Magazine. Sanders attended Baylor from 1956 to 1958, where she met her husband, Hugh D. Sanders, BM '57, MM '59. Hugh was the Ben H. Williams Professor of Music and director of the Institute for Church Music and Worship at Baylor for 16 years before retiring in 2000. Their daughter, Stacie Hendrickson, graduated from Baylor with a BSEd in 1986 and their son, Stanley, attended for one year in the early 1980s.
