About Charles and Mary Alice Wise
Charles and Mary Alice Wise met at Baylor after Charlie came to the Waco campus in 1951 on the GI Bill after serving in the Navy during the Korean War. Charles came to the Lord through a classmate who worked in the diner across from his home at Brooks Hall, and soon began teaching Sunday school. Mary Alice had a heart for ministry and would always pray for prisoners each time her bus to Baylor passed the Huntsville prison. The two married and went into business together. Their success allowed them the opportunity to support Baylor for many years giving to student scholarships, capital projects and Truett Theological Seminary. The Wises also share a devotion to the women incarcerated in the women's penitentiary in Gatesville, visiting inmates on death row and offering comfort and support to their families. For their devotion to Baylor and even more so for exemplifying the love of Christ in a hurting world, the Wises are truly worthy of this recognition and our appreciation.
