BA '60
An educator, servant leader and noted expert, Dr. Preston Dyer's distinguished career and ongoing influence in the field of social work is evident in the people and programs he has helped shape to their full potential. Nearly a half-century ago, Dyer pioneered Baylor’s social work program, which has grown into one of the top schools of social work in the nation. In his 40 years at the school, he served full-time as professor, program director and chair. Dyer's leadership and investment in the school led to his recognition as "the most influential social worker alive" by the Social Work Degree Guide in 2014.
