Contributions to Christian Ministry

A trailblazer at Baylor as the University's first female African-American graduate, Barbara Walker charted a course in the burgeoning field of social work to help countless people in need find their way. Heeding the call to service as a Baylor student, she has served 32 years as a career social worker with the State of California, specializing in mental health. In addition to her time serving in the mental health sector, Walker started and runs a ministry that provides free resources and programming to help families understand and support their loved ones. Walker views her career in social work as a service to the Lord.
