Next Steps after Acceptance

These next steps are crucial to get you enrolled.

Your goBAYLOR account will show exactly what items we have received and what is needed to complete your file by the deadline.

1. Submit your Enrollment Deposit

To secure your spot at Baylor, you must pay your $500 Enrollment Deposit.

2. Enroll with Baylor's DUO 2-Factor Authentication

After you have paid your enrollment deposit, the next step is to enroll in Baylor's DUO 2-Factor Authentication platform (required on your student phone). DUO adds a second layer of security for your personal information. You will not be able to submit your Housing application or view your financial aid information in BearWeb without DUO. See a helpful instructional video here.Please be aware that this item may remain on your checklist even after you have installed DUO on your phone. 3. Check your Baylor Email

Your Baylor email account is now Baylor's primary means of communicating with you through the remainder of the enrollment process. Please check it frequently. You can check your Baylor email at using your BearID (example: and the same password that you use for goBaylor. You can also set up your Baylor email to go to your mobile devices.

4. Obtain your Visa

There is a lot of information that international students must review and understand, but the International Student and Scholar Services staff will assist you with the process of getting your documents and preparing to come to Baylor. Specifically, we will issue your Form I-20 so you can apply for an F-1 visa. (You may not study at Baylor with a B tourist or business visa). The I-20 is the document that proves that you are a student at the university and it is required in order for you to get a visa to enter the United States. Below are the steps you need to follow to get your I-20 from Baylor:

  1. After you get accepted to Baylor University, you must pay your deposit before any other steps.
  2. After you pay your deposit, we will send you a link so you can request your Form I-20.
  3. Submit all required information and documents to Baylor's ISSS Office using the link we send you. We will mail you the I-20 when it’s ready.
  4. Pay your SEVIS fee according to the information that we send to you with your I-20.
  5. Make your visa interview appointment with a U.S. Embassy or Consulate to obtain a U.S. F-1 visa stamp in your passport that will allow you to enter the United States.
  6. Make your travel plans to the U.S! Remember that your I-20 has the date that you are expected to be here at Baylor, so make your travel plans based on that date.

Transfer Students: If you are transferring your SEVIS record from a U.S. university or U.S. high school to Baylor, please remember that you must be in status at the time of the transfer. Baylor will not accept your SEVIS record if it is out of status. It is your responsibility to arrange a date for your SEVIS record to be transferred to Baylor by working with your International Student Advisor (DSO) at your current institution. Your current institution may have its own forms for your to complete.

5. Submit Proof of Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination (BMV)

Texas state law requires that all new students under the age of 22 show proof of meningococcal vaccination within the last 5 years and at least 10 days prior to the first day of class. Submit proof of your Bacterial Menintis Vaccination (BMV) in your goBAYLOR account by August 1. You can learn more about the Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination requirements. Please note that Bexsero and Trumenba are Meningitis B Vaccines and DO NOT meet the requirements of the State of Texas. The following routine vaccinations may also be required prior to enrollment:

  • Tetanus-Diphtheria (Td) or Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis (TDaP) - within 10 years
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)

6. Submit Your Housing Application

Make sure to complete the Housing Application before the housing deadline on June 1.

  • Your housing application submission date has no bearing on your housing preferences. So, don't rush! As long as you submit your housing application before 11:59 p.m. CST on June 1, you'll have the same chances as everyone else to access roommate matching software and select your specific residence hall and room.
  • If you just paid your enrollment deposit, it may take a couple hours for the housing application form to be available.
  • When you're ready, you may complete your Housing Application using your Bear ID (ex: First_Last3) and your Baylor ID (the 9-digit number in your Profile section).
7. Schedule an Academic Advising Appointment

Your academic advisor will help you consider course options and get you registered for your classes. Reservations for appointments will open on June 1, and appointments will take place beginning as early as June 8. Note that academic advising looks a bit different within each academic school and college. You’ll receive information about advising within your major leading up to June 1. Here is everything required before you can schedule your Academic Advising Appointment:

  • Submit your Health Form
  • Submit the New Student Advising Questionnaire in goBAYLOR
  • Submit any College Credit or Dual Credit work
  • Submit any testing requirements for Math ALEKS, Chemistry ALEKS, and/or English Language proficiency test. If any are required you will be able to find them in goBAYLOR
  • Submit your final test scores
  • Submit your final high school transcript
8. Prepare for Move-In Day

9. Become Familiar with Your Insurance Policy

All international students and accompanying dependents at Baylor University are required to have unlimited coverage in medical insurance coverage. Enrollment in the mandatory Baylor University Health Insurance Plan is automatic at the time of registration, and the cost of the policy will appear on your tuition and fee bill as "Required Insurance." 10. Pay Your First Semester Bill

The last step is to pay your first semester bill.
