October Newsletter

We hope that you are enjoying the fall and all the activities this season brings! Here is a monthly update from the Admissions crew at Baylor.

Continue to Tell Your Students about College Fairs

We are still actively traveling, meeting up with students and attending college fairs! Remember to keep checking our website for regular updates on our whereabouts!

Early Action Deadline

The Early Action application deadline is quickly approaching on November 1. Remind your students that this deadline is important and we do select the majority of our freshman class from this early pool of applicants. This is also the same deadline for Single Choice Early Action applicants—students who are applying early only to Baylor. November 1 is a firm deadline so applicants need to be sure they have all required documentation sent to our office by 5pm CST on November 1. Students should continue checking their goBAYLOR accounts to keep up with their admission status.

Application Reminder

We know there are multiple avenues of applying to Baylor, and students may feel that they need to submit more than one application to be noticed. Please reassure and encourage your students to only submit ONE application. Whether it’s through our baylor.edu/gobaylor portal, Common Application, Apply Texas, etc., students only need one to be officially reviewed.

Major-Specific Applications

Students applying to the music or theater programs at Baylor must audition with the department to be considered for admission to the program.  Students can check audition dates at baylor.edu/music and baylor.edu/theatre.

Submitting Transcripts

Acceptable electronic systems for submission are Parchment, Naviance, eScript-Safe and TRex. Unfortunately, we cannot accept transcripts as official through email. If your school does not utilize an electronic system, we will accept transcripts by mail. Our mailing address is One Bear Place #97056 Waco, TX 76798.

Don’t Make These Top 3 Transcript Errors!

Speaking of transcripts… Every year we receive hundreds of transcripts that are missing crucial information, which then holds up the students’ admissions file and slows down the decision process. Don't forget to include these crucial components on the transcripts:

  • Class rank AND class size.
  • All grade levels – Baylor needs all 9th, 10th and 11th grades even if the student did coursework at another school.
  • Early Grad Statements for early graduating seniors (in a separate document that should come with the transcript).

High School Visit Sign Ups

Did you know that there’s an easy, fast, and free way to schedule visits from our Admissions Counselors? Several schools are now using online sign up forms to schedule appointments. If your school is interested in learning more about this process, take a look at the following sites:

Baylor Bound

Baylor University has partnered with several colleges around the state to form the “Baylor Bound” program. This program allows students attending our partner community colleges to take classes that are on track with Baylor’s transfer policy. This allows them to transfer into Baylor with all of the credits they earn at their community college. Check out more information on this program at baylor.edu/baylorbound.

Baylor Tradition of the Month: Homecoming October 13th-15th

Homecoming is our biggest weekend all year! Alumni and families come from all over to celebrate this special tradition, visit campus and enjoy all of our favorite events. Activities include the bonfire extravaganza, the famous Baylor Homecoming parade (believed to be the largest in the nation), football game, live performances and special reunions. This would be a fun, unique opportunity to have your students visit campus this month. Learn more at baylor.edu/homecoming.

Discovering Waco

Common Grounds is a local coffee shop located just off campus. Students gather here for study sessions or just to catch up! With its homey environment and concert-hosting Backyard, it’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon or Friday night.
