The linguistics minor requires students to complete 18 hours of upper-level courses in the English department. Students can major in English or Professional Writing and pursue this minor. They may not major in Language and Linguistics with a minor in Linguistics.

Most degree programs at Baylor do not require a student to select a minor area of study. Students may choose to minor in a field that supplements their major.  Or, they may choose to pursue an area of academic interest completely outside their major. For example, a Spanish major with an interest in the structure and development of languages as a whole may decide to minor in Linguistics.

Courses a student might take include Introduction to Language and Linguistics, History of the English Language or Old English Language.
