On October 15, 2018, Matt Homeyer, MDiv ‘07, DMin ‘16, will begin his service at Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary in the newly created position of Assistant Dean for External Affairs. Dr. Homeyer previously served as the Director of Ministry Connections at Truett.
This past summer, many of Truett Seminary’s faculty and staff took the opportunity to travel abroad, including Dr. Terry York and Jan Cason, who journeyed to Northrise University in Zambia, and Dr. Kimlyn Bender, who traveled to Cambridge, England.

On June 1, 2018, Dr. Joel C. Gregory, Professor of Preaching and Holder of the George W. Truett Endowed Chair in Preaching and Evangelism, commenced his service as the Director of the Kyle Lake Center for Effective Preaching at Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. Gregory is taking over the role of Director from Dr. W. Hulitt Gloer, who retired from Truett Seminary at the end of the spring 2018 semester.
This past May, Truett Seminary’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Christian Ministry and Church Music Dr. Terry York and Financial Manager Jan Cason traveled to Ghana at the invitation of Dora Bortey, DMin ’04. Bortey is the founder and director of L.I.F.E. (Living For El-Shaddai) Ministries, an organization that focuses on reaching children and teenagers for Jesus Christ.
In May 2018, Dr. Hulitt Gloer led a team of Truett students to visit the Monastery of Christ in the Desert in New Mexico. This experience is one that will continue to impact those who attended for years to come.
Truett Seminary alumnus Dr. Dan Bellamy (MDiv ’06, DMin ‘15) is fulfilling his call to ministry in a unique and interesting way. Bellamy—known as "Dr. Dan"—is the founder of Inflatable Stories, through which he creates balloon sculptures to share the gospel with audiences nationwide. Though he long felt both his call to ministry and his passion for balloon art, it wasn’t until recently that God brought the two together in the form of Inflatable Stories.
Many of those pursuing theological education through Truett Seminary’s online Certificate Program are bi-vocational ministers who are not able to attend seminary as full-time students. It was with these students in mind that the Certificate Program’s new preaching course was designed.

Baylor University's George W. Truett Theological Seminary Dean Todd D. Still has announced the appointment of Scott M. Gibson, DPhil, and Jared E. Alc ntara, PhD, as the Seminary's newest faculty members. Both Dr. Gibson and Dr. Alc ntara will begin their service at Baylor on July 1.
Over Spring Break, a group of 26 Truett students, faculty, and friends journeyed to Israel for a 10-day Holy Land tour, beginning in Tel Aviv on the outskirts of Jaffa and traveling by way of Magdala, Nazareth, Bethlehem, and other biblical and historical locations, concluding with the Mount of Olives and the Garden Tomb.
