Chapter 33 - Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship
Public Law 111-32, the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship, amends the Post-9/11 GI Bill® (chapter 33) to include the children of service members who died in the line of duty after Sept. 10, 2001.
Submit Certificate of Eligibility to the VA Benefits Office in the Office of the Registrar.
Complete and provide a Request for Certification Form to the VA Benefits Office after you have registered for the semester.
Using VA benefits for the first time at Baylor University:
(If you previously used VA benefits at another school)
Complete the online Request for Change of Program or Place of Training Form (22-5495) if transferring to another institution and not changing benefits: www.vets.gov/education/
Submit copy of Form 22-5495 AND Certificate of Eligibility to the VA Benefits Office in the Office of the Registrar
Complete and provide a Request for Certification Form to the VA Benefits Office after you have registered for the semester.
Benefit Payments:
Under the John Fry Scholarship, students receive the same benefits as a student under Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill® at 100%.
Students using the John Fry Scholarship are eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program beginning August 1, 2018.
