Bio
Michael Gonzalez entered Baylor’s political science PhD program in August 2017, after earning a BA in the Liberal Arts from the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts. Michael’s scholarship focuses on the perennial intersection between religion and politics, giving special attention to Xenophon, Cicero, Lucretius, Augustine, Thomas More, Machiavelli, and Hobbes. Through his minor concentration, Michael studies international politics and American foreign policy, examining questions related to diplomacy, strategic thought, the just war tradition, and natural law. His overall research agenda aims at integrating his major and minor concentrations by using familiarity with ancient, medieval, and modern political thought to elucidate the fundamental alternatives in current international debates.
