Guidelines of Service

Baylor University and the Office of Access and Learning Accommodation (OALA) provide a supportive environment to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to educational programs.

Transportation assistance is available through OALA to students with temporary or permanent mobility impairments. The accommodations provided are based upon the student’s individual needs.  Accommodations can include classroom accommodations, temporary parking permit, and use of the Baylor Disability Shuttle, which is a paratransit service that provides transportation on-campus. The shuttle operates Monday through Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Documentation Requirements

To qualify for services, students must provide medical documentation from their healthcare provider to OALA that includes: (1) a diagnosis, (2) the severity of the condition, (3) the functional limitations caused by the disability, (4) the recommended accommodations, and (5) the anticipated length of time services would be required. (6) Physician Signature.  The Shuttle Documentation Form was created to support students in acquiring the necessary medical documentation.

Any student requesting accommodations must register with the Office of Access and Learning Accommodation by completing an online shuttle application and by requesting an appointment by calling 254-710-4500.  Physicians may fax documentation to our office at 254-710-4112.

The Accessibility Coordinator will contact the student within three business days following the receipt of a Disability Shuttle Request, in order to set up a brief meeting to review shuttle policies and establish a rider schedule.  Rides to OALA for an intake appointment can be arranged with sufficient notice. Please call 254-710-4500 for more information or to schedule a transportation intake appointment.

The Baylor Disability Shuttle does not run during the weekends, official study days, or final exams.
