LHSON COVID Update - August 26, 2020

Dear LHSON Faculty, Staff and Students,

If a pandemic was not enough to worry about, now we have Hurricane Laura.  Please be in prayer for our faculty and students on the coast. Since August 10th, I have reported to Waco the numbers of faculty, staff and students affected by COVID but now they would like to know about those affected by Hurricane Laura also. I do not give names but do need to keep an accurate count of anyone affected.  God has been very good to us during this pandemic and for that I give praise.  Thank you in advance for your notification.

Beginning this Wednesday, August 26, the University will randomly select and notify students, faculty, staff and vendors who will start testing Monday, August 31. Testing will continue each week until Friday, November 20. This will be for those that have already been tested and are in our buildings any during Fall 2020.  It does NOT apply for distant faculty and students or faculty teaching completely online that do not plan to come to our buildings at all in Fall 2020.

Test participants will be selected from the following groups:

  • 6-7 faculty and staff working on campus
  • 23-25 students
  • 50% of our security guards, maintenance workers, and housekeepers

Testing Process
On Thursday morning of each week, those who have been selected for testing will be notified via email and given further instructions to come to the LHSON Academic Building between 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Monday to test.  If they cannot make that time due to their clinical or job requirements, they are to contact Monica Mullins and she will set them up to test at the lab. They will have until the end of the week to comply. Test results will be available within 24 to 48 hours.

Compliance
All students, faculty, staff and vendors are required to test if selected. Regular COVID-19 testing is an integral component of our layered strategy to safeguard the health and well-being of the Baylor community. Thank you for being a part of our efforts to keep our campus community healthy. It will take all of us working together to #SicCOVID.

Sincerely,
