Meet Giancarlo Guerrero
Music Director/Conductor, Nashville Symphony

"Baylor's School of Music prepared me for a great music career; its world-class faculty was always available to share their expertise and provide meaningful advice. As a percussionist, the school's ensembles provided me great opportunities to explore all styles of repertoire: orchestral, band, choral, chamber music and of course plenty of solo opportunities; and when I decided to pursue my interest in conducting, the school was very supportive in helping me in this new endeavor. I am very proud of being a Baylor alumni and I will forever be grateful for their invaluable support and teaching." ~ MORE

Meet Marjorie Owens, soprano
The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center
Lyric Opera of Chicago

"Baylor University was a fantastic choice! I attended Baylor primarily for my voice teacher, Dr. John Van Cura. Once there, however, I realized Baylor had so much more to offer. The music school's curriculum presents the student with a rich and varied education. Students at the Baylor music school have a well rounded education; much more so than students choosing to attend music conservatories that focus on only one thing. I received a great amount of stage experience with Baylor Opera. The intensive vocal study and operas in which I performed at Baylor prepared me for some of the most highly rated competitions and young artist programs in the opera world. I am eternally grateful to Baylor for the extensive tools I was given and the wonderful friends I made." ~ MORE

Meet Steven Stucky
Consulting Composer for New Music, Los Angeles Philharmonic
Givens Professor of Composition, Cornell University

"I have been a professional musician for about 40 years, and it's a long time since my time at Baylor. Yet even now not a day goes by that I don't use what I was taught there, and that I don't think back with fondness for my teachers, and with admiration for the supportive atmosphere they fostered. All the names and faces have changed since then, of course, but what have not changed are the commitment to excellence and the caring, giving attitude of the Baylor music faculty."
