Pre-medicine is a program rather than a specific major.  The Pre-med program requires specific courses students must complete to apply for medical school, but it does give students the flexibility to pursue any major.  Medical schools select students with majors in both non-science and science disciplines.  Regardless of major, it is vital for students to succeed in their academics.  Students also must develop strong qualities of leadership, interpersonal skills, ethics, and service.

The pre-medicine program offers several services in order to prepare students for the often rigorous journey in becoming a doctor, including advising, the opportunity to attend professional workshops, research opportunities and student organizations.

To help students prepare for medical school, Baylor created the Pre-med/Pre-dent Advisory Committee. The Committee interviews and evaluates applicants for professional school.  They also work with many medical and dental schools to garner valuable information for Baylor students.  The Committee prepares composite evaluations that include a plot of chronological grade progression and teacher and committee ratings, which are based on a variety of personal and academic characteristics.  The committee reviews comments based on the interview, personal knowledge and application materials. Their comprehensive evaluations are often an important component of the student's application. Students must complete the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) for medical school consideration.

Alpha Epsilon Delta is a student-led organization for those interested in Pre-Health Care programs. AED offers opportunities for intellectual and professional development. It provides a forum for students with common interests. It also extends a program of service to benefit both the Waco and the Baylor communities.

Baylor offers several Living-Learning Centers which are housing opportunities designed to place students of common interests together.  The Science & Health Living-Learning Center is a residential option that's available for pre-health students depending on their major. Students are able to collaborate with each other, science faculty and medical researchers.
