Spiritual Life

Baylor was founded on Christian values and is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Being a Christian, however, is not required for admission to Baylor. In fact, our undergraduate student body represents about 40 different religious affiliations.

While we will never be able to quantify the many ways you will experience our Christian commitment, here are a few of the ways we seek to integrate faith and learning:

  • University Chapel services provide twice-weekly opportunities for group worship, inspiration and community building. Speakers are people who excel at what they do as an expression of their commitment to Christ. There are also multiple sacred spaces across campus for contemplation and reflection.
  • Religion classes such as Christian Scriptures and Christian Heritage help students examine and understand their beliefs.
  • Service opportunities help students put hands and feet to faith. At Baylor, we believe service can be a whole lot of fun, and we make sure of it through our strong Baptist Student Ministry, mission trips, Steppin' Out and other community service projects.
  • A current Truett Seminary student serves as Resident Chaplain in each residence hall, providing leadership, guidance and support.

The Office of Spiritual Life

Spiritual wellness is part of every person's overall health and wellbeing. That's why the Spiritual Life team is here - to provide Christian counsel and help in times of crisis, assist with individual spiritual growth, and offer opportunities for local, national, and worldwide ministry. The Office of Spiritual Life is housed in the Bobo Spiritual Life Center, which also features a prayer chapel, coffee bar and rec room.
